Matthew 25:35: “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink.”
History: The Hyde Park Presbyterian Church food pantry began in 2005 when church member Ben Rosales walked into then-pastor Rev. Linda Bourianoff’s office and said, “We need to do more to feed our neighbors.” Rev. Linda agreed, and the HPPC Food Pantry was born.
Who we serve: Anyone who visits the food pantry and is hungry! God calls us to feed the hungry. Our guests include neighbors living on the street, families suffering from a loss of income, and individuals living paycheck to paycheck dealing with an unexpected major expense like car repairs or medical bills.
What do guests receive? Each visitor is presented with a list of food items they can select from. Selections are made based on their preferences and access to a kitchen.
Recent Trends: In 2023 and 2024, we have seen an increase in guests visiting the food pantry and in the price of groceries. Nevertheless, we are committed to this ministry. If you choose to join us in feeding our neighbors, please make a donation or sign up to volunteer below. Thank you!
Hours: The Food Pantry is open Tuesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Mavis’ House.
How you can help:
Volunteer! You don’t need to be a member of Hyde Park (though you are always welcome to join us for worship!) to help serve our hungry neighbors. Follow this link to complete our short Food Pantry Volunteer Interest Form. Training is provided.
Donate! $25 provides a week of food for a guest. Follow the link to make a donation. 100% of donations go to purchasing food for the pantry.
